Blogger FAIL!!!

Charlotte, NC      {whoa holy huge update}

Can you believe it?

I AM ALIVE.

I deserve worst blogger award for 2014.  End of story.

But the other side to the story is I have super happy kids. Their Mommy has been full time Mommy again…and they are super content with that. Balancing work and babies…not the easiest job on earth. <Oh and ps- my husband has a hip and back injury which has changed our entire life and our scheduling. Not to mention, how the heck do you single Mommies do it?> So when everyone was taking and taking from me, I decided I had to give something up (or slack off for a little while). Yes, it was blogging.

All my beautiful clients were still getting in front of my camera, and receiving their gorgeous images a couple weeks later…but sadly, they didn’t get to see their sparkle of beauty on my blog. And now it’s practically summer. WHAT?

So here I sit finishing up a couple sessions, realizing I have a couple minutes of waiting time…and here I am. I want to share a few photos from the missing months of blogging.

I love you all and I am so grateful to have you all to share these gorgeous people with! I hope to be back to my regular blogging soon!

Hayes Grier

Charlotte, NC       {portrait photography, teen photography}

I had such a fun time photographing Hayes a few weeks ago…we had no plan, no guidelines and a beautiful evening to capture the real Hayes!! The only thing we missed was his sporty style, that he usually represents! It’s got to be tough being 13 and that adorable!!! The Griers have raised all of their boys to be wonderful men, and I am so thankful to have been a witness to that over the years!

Hayes doesn’t take a bad photo. And couldn’t be any sweeter if he tried. The crazy social media world has blown up around him and he is still Hayes. I love that! Sorry these are so late…blogging hasn’t been on schedule lately! oops!!

ENJOY!!! xo

March goodies…a fabulous mix of beauty

Charlotte, NC      {family photography}  {child photography}  {newborn photography}

Spring is officially here…and other than the obvious gorgeous weather & gorgeous blooms everywhere– I’ve been MIA! No blogging, barely any facebook posts, and just getting enough time in the day to catch a few hours of sleep— yes, this is Spring. I have been spending most of the past month trying to catch up on all the sessions that were rescheduled from all the nasty weather this winter too. Hello crazy town.

In the last month I did manage to finally start a photography instagram page, which is exciting.  ( username: HeatherMariePhotographyNC )  I love posting sneak peeks from the back of my camera on there. And giving a little preview of my own crazy life as well. oh, which reminds me…HAPPY EASTER friends!! I hope everyone celebrated with all their loved ones and enjoyed such a special day! ❤

Now to share a few shots from the past month! I won’t be doing my full blog posts with these but I adored each and every one of these sessions! I will be back to my regular blogging soon, PROMISE!!

Thank you for taking the time out of your fabulous Spring to check these out!!!

Nash

Charlotte, NC    {commercial photography}

For those of you that don’t know Nash Grier…you probably will in the next couple of years. (it means you’re either not on social media or just don’t pay any attention to social media and, parents- your child probably already knows of him, and/or has a fiery crush on him!)

Nash is one of my best friend’s stepsons, so to me, he is a sweet Grier boy. Just like his two other brothers. But to many others he is the Vine-famous Nash.  Since I don’t really have experience in the Vine world- I’m sticking with the Nash I know to show you all. 🙂

I’ve had the Grier Family in front of my lens more than once, but this was the first time it was just one of the boys.  Nash rocked. He’s hysterical, and yes he’s only 16.  We laughed the entire time.  He has a great family, and you see it in him. That’s what I find amazing with all three of the Grier boys. Not only are they all beautiful(yes, you can say beautiful for men), and talented– they all have hearts of gold. And great things happen to great people. (well, I’d like to hope that this is true.)

I know his life is a bit wild now, he is still grounded. And really a typical 16 year old guy. I am so glad I was able to capture the real Nash in our session, and I hope you enjoy!

The Fergen Family of now 6

Charlotte, NC   {family photography, child photography}

A few short months ago I was contacted by this amazingly sweet mother, Kansas about a last minute photo session in Charlotte.  Kansas and her family were flying into town the next day from South Dakota to begin their journey of adoption for the second time. 🙂 I knew from the moment we spoke on the phone that there was something special about this family. (duh…everyone knows I have a 6th sense about people!)

Fast forward a week or so, I met Kansas and Danny and their new little boy–their photos melted me, but their crazy love is what really overwhelmed me with happiness.  They had left their other three children in SD with family while the adoption ran it’s course.  So, I wasn’t able to meet their complete unit, but I just knew God had brought us together for a reason. 10 minutes after we left our session, they received a phone call that changed their paths completely. The birth mother had chosen to take her son back. WOW. Can you even imagine?  Seven days with this little baby as your own.  It ripped my heart out. I can’t even grasp what it did to theirs.  ok…so the story doesn’t end sadly—-

I learned so much about God’s Grace over the next couple weeks, as I watched this beautiful new family ache and pray over what was God’s plan for this child. Although they did not understand or know why this child (for which they prayed) would’ve been given & then taken back, they prayed and stayed strong. I kept in touch with Kansas through it all. And I can’t even begin to tell you all the tears I shed and prayers I prayed for all of them. It changed me.

Now, fast forward a couple more months…as I pulled into Starbucks it began to snow. (Us Southerners think that’s kind of a big deal…and of course I did!) I was smiling from ear to ear as I opened my car door. Then I heard a text come through my phone- it was Kansas.  It said “Are you free this week to take pics??? We are on our way to NC to pick up our baby boy, he’s 10 days old and he is ours! We could not be happier and we are bringing all our children too!!”  Yes, you bet I stood there in the middle of the road with giant crocodile tears of joy rolling down my face.  I was flooded with happiness. Can you imagine their own version of this story?

A few days later, I met their beautiful new son, Daeston Job Christian. I also met their other beautiful three children, Coyer (6), Kedren (4) and  Baylic (almost 2).  It was God’s plan all along. We played in the snow until the kids were miserably cold, and we captured their expanding family bubbling with the greatest love.  I am so fortunate to have been brought into the Fergen Family’s life. I wish I could explain it better with my words. But I’m sure you guys are all filled up with my stories for one day. 🙂

I hope you all have a better understanding of how much strength is needed to adopt, let alone to be able to give your child up for adoption. I have a new found  appreciation of adoption as a whole. Their love shines so strongly in these photos, and I hope you enjoy them!

The Cambruzzi Family

Cornelius, NC    {Family Photography, Child Photography}

I love when I walk into a family’s home and instantly feel like I was meant to be there, and we just click. Allie and Rob did just that. I think I laughed for almost 2 hours straight. It was great. I had just met them, and Allie’s adorable parents…but somehow felt like I had known them forever. This makes my job so much easier. Allie is so laid back and relaxed, and their handsome little man, Trip will grow up seeing that as well. Trip was around 7 weeks old when we did his session, and he was such a great sport! I hope you can see their sweet love in the few images I show you all…enjoy!

Hi Jax {hello world}

Charlotte, NC  {newborn photography, family photography}

Another beautiful family is blessed with a gorgeous & healthy baby boy!! I am so blessed to have been able to capture such a special time of their lives for them! Stephanie and James welcomed their little man Jackson to this world earlier this month and they seem to have mastered this “baby” stuff already! It has to help that he is so so cute! I hope you enjoy a few of their precious images…

The Schubert Family

Cornelius, NC   {Family Photography}

I was so happy to get to see the Schubert Family again, and they welcomed me so kindly into their beautiful home. Scott and Egle have the most precious little girl Gabi- and we were celebrating her first birthday! It was amazing to see the change in Gabi from the minute I walked in the door to the end when I was leaving. She was super shy to start and really opened up as time went by. She danced the moment she heard a good tune…and when I say “good” I mean- an awesome pop song that we all would love as well. 🙂 I loved their carefree way of life. We all just hung out in their home enjoying some family time…and just being real. No put on poses or shows. This is what it’s all about with family photography in my eyes!! I hope you enjoy a few of their beautiful photos!!

Ryan + CJ = Brooklyn

Davidson, NC     {maternity photography}

After months of waiting…we FINALLY got to celebrate this beautiful baby bump!!! CJ contacted me right after they found out they were expecting and I was so so excited to see her! They are expecting their first baby in April, and it’s a girl! Baby Brooklyn is coming into a world with so much love for her, and how could that not warm your heart?! CJ and Ryan had to share the spotlight with their first baby, Marlon as well- their sweet dog! We had such a great time playing, laughing and just hanging out chatting…the time flew by! I could post 50 more images from their session and still not feel like I showed you all of my favorites! I hope you enjoy their growing love…and get excited to see their newborn baby girl in April! 🙂

Gone with the cast…

Huntersville, NC     {personal}

These have been the longest 96 days of my life. But I have survived, my children & husband have survived, my dogs have survived, my clients & friends have survived, our home is still standing {shockingly}, and somehow my business has survived. I am blessed. And even more thankful & grateful than ever before.

My final cast was cut off yesterday morning, while my youngest two boys watched in horror. They were sure the nurse was going to saw off my arm with the cast. It also didn’t help that the night before I was in the ER with our middle son Jax until 2am. Oh that’s a whole other blog entry on it’s own, but we thought he broke his arm. Turned out to be a nursemaid elbow, and a quick fix. THANK GOD! So, here I was staring down at this dry, flaky, swollen, weak arm. ick. and yes, the doctor was right- I also was gifted lots of new BLACK hairs on the arm as well. fabulous. But I was free. I could feel the cold air of the room. It didn’t even seem real. I wanted to cry.

I was cleared to leave and told to work on stretching it back out to have a normal range of motion again, and like that 96 days of headaches, bitterness and pain disappeared.

This morning I showered alone (which is a vacation on it’s own, let’s be real)- and I didn’t need an extra 10 minutes to prepare my arm for battle. No press n seal glad wrap, no plastic bag fights, and no tape to hold it all together.  I washed my hair with two hands. My right side of my scalp would be thanking me right now if it could talk. I was able to shave like I use to without having to do intense yoga positions. And even better than all of that (if that wasn’t enough already to make my day), I didn’t have a numb hand from holding it up in the air for 20+ mins. 🙂 I couldn’t think of a better Tuesday.

We all seem to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the rat race, or this so-called everyday life. We forget about all the tiny luxuries, and take them completely for granted.  I can’t even imagine how many of you have probably gone through this same experience, and many of you going through WAY worse currently.  Some of you may never get to be freed of the “cast”.  Whether a cast like mine, or a cast of other sorts. This cast has given me a chance to reflect on the simple things that I am so fortunate to have the ability to do.

As I type with two hands for the first time in 96 days, I sing Grace.  I am beyond thankful for this blessing, and God’s plan was obviously more important than mine.  I was made to slow down, and to spend many more hours and days with my family. It was all a blessing. Thank you for supporting me.

I am excited to share with you a couple iphone images from the doctor’s office yesterday…

Happy Tuesday friends!!

xo Heather
