CAPTURING LOVE

I am feeling all the cliche “love” vibes today. All the love stories, Hallmark movies and fairy tales .

Happy Valentine’s Day my sweet friends! ❤️ Spreading some delightful love right here.

Cheers to the magic of memories and authentic love.

2024: Rekindling my joy of sharing

The very last day of January in this bright, new year. Here I sit. Knowing I promised myself in the new year I would return to my long, lost blog. No excuses. But good gracious- it is A LOT easier just offering up all the excuses.

My husband is standing behind me, whispering for me to just push it off for another day. (Most of you know, but for those of you who don’t…he’s the “no pressure” type. I am so thankful that I chose him. Even as a 19 year old, I must’ve known my heart and head couldn’t handle that stress.) But nope, not today mrs. procrastination. I am taking my first step to rekindling the joy of sharing.

Why would I want to rekindle the joy of sharing when it seems the world and every single human on it- is over sharing?! And why have I paused myself completely on all this social media sharing hoopla?! Ya’ll, this wasn’t a 3 month pause…this was a 4 YEAR pause!! eek!! At a glance, loads of “stuff” has happened. 2020- covid insanity, just to start. I am sure none of us need any reminders of that emotional time period, but that was when I decided to take a break from all the online sharing and posting. I needed to focus on homeschooling my 5 kiddos. My hiatus lasted longer than I predicted. Although the healthy recess from “sharing” brought me peace. I highly recommend it. 5 stars.

But it is time. I have received email after email from curious clients, all asking the same thing- “Are you still taking photos and offering photo sessions?” Clearly my website and blog were suggesting that my business may have been put on hold. oops. Fantastic news for all my gorgeous clients and future gorgeous clients: I am working all year capturing everyone’s magic and memories!

I am regularly working to grow and learn new skills and trying out fun, new locations with some brave clients. 🙂 Never a dull moment around here. I want to share it all with you. New experiences and fresh eyes will absolutely help rekindle my joy of sharing.

Thank you for welcoming me back into this creative space. Your support has always been my driving force, and I can’t wait to embark on this year’s new adventures!!

Cheers to a healthy 2024

Here.

Davidson, NC      {family photography}  {child photography}

I am still in a moving coma, but I am here. We made it. Moving isn’t for the light hearted. Well, moving with 4 kids and 2 dogs isn’t.

Holy.

I am living out of boxes still…a month after we moved. And we may be living out of boxes until January. (ya’ll know this is a photographers craziest time of the year!) I don’t even know how I convinced myself to sit down long enough to blog this morning. But I did. WOOHOO!!! 🙂 I deserve a 3rd coffee. And maybe a 2nd bag of those amazing little lindt lindor limited edition peppermint white chocolate truffles I just killed between my sentences.

So, I have been juggling this insane weather, lots of newborns and a FULL schedule of sessions this month…and I have a great feeling that none of that is slowing down anytime soon. The monsoons we had here really ruined a couple weeks of sessions. But I did get to “start” working on my new office in our new home. I got myself a new desk, new rug and a bunch of fun stuff to add to my happy editing space. I will be sitting here. daily. often. Why not make it my one “girlie” place?! I may not be able to find socks, or pants but you better believe I know where every tiny newborn hat, charging cord and memory card is.

I want to share a few of the families I’ve been capturing lately and our last family shot in front of our old home! 🙂 Hope you enjoy! I’ll hopefully be back here soon…with even more memories to share! xo

Hudson {6 months}

Davidson, NC   {child photography, family photography}

To start off my return to work and the beginning of a beautiful year I was fortunate enough to photograph a family that I just adore. I met them a little over 6 months ago for the very first time when I came to their home to photograph their brand name baby boy Hudson! I had no idea how awesome these new parents were.  The had me at “hello, sorry about the dogs.”  Since then I have loved keeping in touch with them and watching their sweet Hudson grow up!

So my first session back started with a blow out poo from my 4 week old baby, which delayed us by a few minutes but it sure added the perfect humor to our session.  They were wonderful sports about it and not to mention it was FREEZING outside. I love my clients. Hudson was a super trooper. He rocked every single moment. And his flirt look about knocked me off my feet. I’ll take him home- no problem. He’ll add in perfectly with our crew of boys!

I hope you see all the love and humor in this sweet family the same way I do! 🙂 enjoy! xo

Hi Hudson

Davidson, NC  {newborn photography}

What better way to end my Saturday but to show off a precious little cutie I met a couple weeks ago! When I walked into the Maiura’s home I knew I would love them instantly…they had 2 loving doggies greeting me front and center! And to top that off…one was my favorite breed of all time, a french bulldog! 🙂 Ok not to stray away from the real reason I was lucky to meet this family, they had just welcomed their first little one to the world! Colleen and Tim already had it together too. I was impressed. Hudson has the good life. No doubt. We seriously laughed the entire session and had such an awesome time in their gorgeous home!! Hudson is perfect and you’ll agree!!

Enjoy!!

xo Happy Saturday!!

The Walsh Family

Lincolnton, NC   {family & child photography}

After months and months of trying to get our schedules to match up, I FINALLY got the precious Walsh family in front of my camera! Leslie and I had been back and forth way too many times to count, she deserves a medal. But of course we pick a bitter cold day to meet, and of course things didn’t go as planned. {do they ever?!} Their handsome little 4 year old Sutton wanted nothing to do with me or my crazy antics. After dancing, singing & lots of ridiculous jokes, I gave up. In all my years of photographing kids he’s the very 1st kiddo to defeat me. He won. He was not in the mood for playing or photos, and quite honestly it was so frigid out I am surprised that any of us lasted as long as we did. Hadley, his big sister was the sweetest little princess from start to finish. I think she enjoyed the extra love from mommy & daddy! We all have been here before- which makes me appreciate these images so much. We are always in new stages with children, and they’re constantly changing. Capture it while you can. Hope you enjoy!!!
