With all these gorgeous blooms (plus the abundance of pollen covering every inch of our town, and sinuses), I decided I needed to stop off and grab a couple spring shots of our little monsters. Without them, I truly doubt I would’ve found this passion for child photography- or ever would’ve turned my camera off of auto to figure out what else it would do. These boys are my world. {+God and my handsome hubby} oh, and Cooper and Dozer <our four-legged children>. So, with that being said- it was a nice day and I had a last minute cancellation, so I took the boys out to eat and headed to a beautiful field of yellow flowers! Then I let the rugrats be themselves. To top it off I had a friend with her adorable son meet me there too…so it ended up as a fun playdate as well. You can never have too many photos of your own children. EVER. I know I have always been teased about taking too many of my kids- but I ignore the comments completely. Or laugh because within time they will have children of their own and say “wow, I now understand why Heather takes 10 million pictures of her kids each week.” Life is so short. Make it sweet, happy & fun! Hope you enjoy…Cade (4 years), Jax (2 years), Kolt (15 months) and Kellan (13 months), my sweet friend Alex’ son.
Mr. Kellan in action…
and lastly, I captured a sweet group of guys out to enjoy their evening on bikes…

We are running out the door for a weekend away in Atlanta to cheer on my hubby and all the other awesome firemen & police that are playing football against the Atlanta team tomorrow- so I will make this short and sweet!! (I had to post this peek before we left…couldn’t wait 3 more days!!)
These gorgeous Kinmon babies know how to melt my camera for sure. I am so thankful that I’ve been able to capture the three of them growing up season after season! Mia and Aniston are just beautiful…and with each time I see them they grow more and more into lovely big girls. I cannot believe how much they’ve matured since I saw them last. 🙂 And Rylan is a little ham, but he is surely hitting those twos!! He wanted nothing to do with us for a while, it was much more fun playing with keys and boxes! (obviously!) Love these kids and I hope you get to enjoy them too!!!
ps- I couldn’t resist posting a TON from their session!!!!

What a sweet joy it was spending a morning with the Rush family over their spring break! {putting in a quick personal note below…it ties in with the Rush Family’s session though}
My morning started out so perfect, mainly because I actually got to grab a coffee and a yummy muffin- and sit in peace to enjoy all of them. (wow) But the other huge treat for me was I brought my first baby boy along for the ride- ok he’s my first “fur” baby, but he’ll always be my first baby. Cooper is my almost 9 year old cream french bulldog- also known as owning 1/6th of my heart. Cooper is more like a human than a dog…he is more sensitive and understanding than any human I have ever met. And by far, MUCH more loyal. He is beyond special. OK honestly, when I started to write this a few moments ago I didn’t think I was going to go down this path of tears and stories of my precious pooch. geez. {so skip all this next rambling if you really don’t want to hear Cooper’s health situation-but it does give you a glimpse into why my morning with the Rush family, and Cooper was extra special}
~Well, about 8 days ago I took Cooper to the vet because he randomly threw up a lot of blood. (seriously, out of nowhere.) and just for those of you who don’t know my life personally- our dogs are treated like children, and maybe sometimes even a tad better. Basically the vet said in a nutshell that Cooper isn’t getting enough oxygen and we will have to do surgery. 😦 Being almost 9 years old, that is just scary to me. So, at this point we are currently awaiting a surgery for our sweet boy- to open his nose holes up and to check his throat and airway to make sure air is able to reach his little body. This mommy is scared, and sad for Cooper. But I know it is in God’s hands and he has been loved beyond imagination since the day we brought him home. Please say a little prayer if you have a moment.
So, Cooper got to ride with me to meet the Rush family in Davidson- and he must of been in heaven. He just wants to go with me everywhere, so I have decided to try to give him a little more special time these days. Having 3 kids takes away a lot of my one-on-one time that I use to have with Cooper. 😦 He enjoyed some of my muffin, listened to me sing loudly to the radio and even got to go into CVS with me to buy some chapstick for the chilly session. He made my day. And at the end of our session- he made the Rush’s youngest son’s day too. Wyatt was absolutely in love with Cooper. And it made my heart smile. Cooper has taught me so much in life…and I think he probably reminded the Rush family of some things they had been pushing aside as well. Animals are such beautiful & unconditionally loving creatures. ok…I am going to get back to the Rush family now, sorry for going off on a tangent, it has weighed heavily on my heart this week.
Ok so moving on to the beautiful Rush Family…we had a blast running around Davidson College and trying our best to keep warm. (even made a fun stop for treats at the coffee shop) They have the cutest little ones, oh my. Val and Chris have taught their 3 munchkins all about smiling & flirting- and I couldn’t get enough! Eli smiled as if he were in love from the moment I saw him up until the very end- I just want to squeeze him. 🙂 I hope you enjoy this pretty family!

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this little peanut! Baby Walt is so tiny and precious. Oh, and so loved. And his gorgeous big sister is super excited…she danced, sang and kept a close watch on her new lil buddy. Bri and Matt are so happy to have their new addition to their family…and I just know the chaos of being parents has just begun! Not to mention the fact that Matt is back in school (full time) and working full time as well. hello busy family. I am so glad I got to enjoy an afternoon with these precious people…and cannot wait to watch their love continue to grow as a family of four! Enjoy their beauty and their handsome addition, Mr. Walt.
and I had to add this hilarious outtake….boys will be boys! 🙂

The Blackmon Family reminds me every single time I photograph them why I adore photography more by the day. Every moment is natural, every moment is real, nothing posed, and each image pours out love & respect. Landon has grown so so so BIG since the last time I photographed him…and just as precious as before. Their session is the perfect example of what happens way too often, everything goes wrong…baby naps in the car, wakes up hungry and is miserable outside in the cold—but as you will be able to see, their photos still turned out incredible. Landon was taking in all the scenery instead of laughing at his silly parents & crazy photographer…but his serious face could win contests. honestly. I love photographing these 3 and I hope you can read their story from this preview of their images…real love. enjoy.

I am so glad I was able to squeeze in the Monastra family before Christmas this year…I was worried we were running out of time!! They have 4 beautiful children and I was so happy to get to hang out with them for the afternoon! Jason (the oldest) is close to that “I’m too cool to smile” age but handsome, Taylor (the older daughter) is beautiful and just glows, Evan (the youngest son) is just precious…I could pinch him and lil miss Maggie is their gorgeous little 4 month old peanut, who steals the show—as lil princess babies should. 🙂 Hope you enjoy!!

The Hilliard Family made the hike all the way up to Lake Norman from Cherryville for their family session with both sweet babies in tow– patience at its best. 🙂 Maddi is 6 weeks old now and Trey is 3 and in full force for the holidays! I love their idea of a Christmas tree farm, and it actually worked out fabulously. They will have an excellent Christmas card this year and many memories for the walls this Christmas- enjoy!!
